“The High Falls two-year-old trotting gelding Run And Tell Pap finished his campaign with 15 wins, which tied him with the Iowa-bred filly Sandra Dea Go Fast for the most victories by any two-year-old trotter in the nation. Run And Tell Pap is also tied with another High Falls offspring, Shore Road, as the swiftest Illinois-bred two-year-old trotters of 2009 with each gelding coming up with a 1:55.4 mark. Of course, Shore Road is not an Illinois season’s leader because his record was taken in a qualifier. What is really amazing to me about the story of Run And Tell Pap is the fact that his dam, the Noble Jade matron Adele’s Jade, foaled Run And Tell Pap at the ripe, old age of twenty-six! Adele’s Jade was a very good racemare herself as she achieved a time trial mark of 1:58.4 and earned $91,171 during her years at the races. Her very first foal, which she delivered at age ten, was the Final Score mare Adele’s Victory that earned a four-year-old mark of 1:59.3. However, the next 9 foals of Adele’s Jade failed to earn a 2:00 record although the All In The Game gelding Farmer In The Dell did take an eight-year-old mark of 2:00.2f while piling up career earnings of $71,229. Run And Tell Pap is the eleventh foal of Adele’s Jade. You’ve got to admire the perseverance of Al and Mary Lea Jeffers, as they didn’t give up on Adele’s Jade. This reminds me that I have a retired twenty-five year old mare. If I could get her in foal next year, she would have a foal at age twenty-seven!” – Tom Shinn
